For this commission, Duncan was asked to copy the previous oak wood-graining on these original pine softwood doors. Location: the Round Chapel in Hackney. Grade 1 listed.

Trompe l'oeil church window with floral mural and paint effect walls

Duncan was commissioned to create this mural and paint effect by his client in Burnham Market, Norfolk.

Trompe l'oiel sideboard to emulate paneling, woodgrain and handles

Duncan was commissioned to match an existing mahogany cabinet to create a larger piece of furniture. Inlay, handles and all details were painted using trompe l'oiel techniques to give the impression of an exact copy.

Panoramic view of a drawing room of a listed manor house. New fibrous plasterwork, which included wall-panelling and columns, were marbleised and stippled with a French blue ombre effect.

Sponged and stippled paint effect walls

This sponged and stippled paint effect used gold-flecks to add interest.

Gaining and dragging

Fibrous plaster cornice was wood-grained to emulate old pine to match bedroom headboard and wardrobes. Paint effect on the wall used a dragging technique with pearlescent glaze to give the shimmer of silk.

Restored and painted antique table.

Using fine art techniques, Duncan restored and repainted this antique table. A satin finish varnish completed the look of the table.
